Cullen Record
a world of human created art

A brief biography about the Artist

Cullen's journey as a self-taught artist has taken him from the rural farmlands of Idaho to the bustling city of San Francisco, and ultimately to the spectalure landscapes of Baja, Mexico. Though his parents were hesitant about his pursuit of a career in the arts, they supported his creative endeavors and Cullen eventually turned to the culinary arts to appease them while still indulging his artistic side. When not attended classes at Le Cordon Bleu, he apprenticed under a Japanese sushi master in San Francisco, learning traditional skills that he still holds dear to this day. In 2006, Cullen immigrated to Mexico to reunite with his estranged brother and together they ran a successful family restaurant. However, when the recession hit and tourism halted, the pair was forced to close their doors. Undeterred, Cullen returned to the United States for a winter season, taking on the role of executive chef at a ski resort in New Mexico where he revamped the menu and saw great success while enjoying nature and being close to family whom have occupied that valley for over 5 generations. Upon his return to the Baja, he learned new metalworking skills and began taking on commissions for large scale metal sculptures. After close to a decade of metal sculpture commissions, organizing cultural events, and private dinners; Cullen was finally able to save enough to open his first gallery in 2015, dedicated to the future artists who would follow in his footsteps. For ten years the gallery evolved to survive through several tremulous years, becoming a successful lounge with full cocktail bar, artesian restaurant, and daily live music or cultural gatherings. At the end of 2025, he accepted the sale of the gallery in order to refocus attention to his own artworks. Today, Cullen works with a variety of mediums and is grateful for the support of his friends, clients, associates, and his decade of dedication to Dos Lobos Gallery.
